With more than 1 million workers located in WA, Perth has the lion's share
making it the city with the one of highest proportions of metropolitan
employment. The state in total has about 40% of all of Australia's mining
employment with most new jobs being created in Construction, Health and
Community Services and the Retail Trade. Mining employment has also grown
very strongly in the past 5 years.
